Amid this era of a proliferation of xenophobic sentiment and policies, the Campaign for Immigrant Detention Reform (CIDR) brings together civil- and immigrants’-rights advocates seeking to protect some of the most vulnerable among us.
Immigrants are being inhumanely detained in facilities across California, as evidenced in a report by the state attorney general, including in the Yuba County Jail. Yuba has been under court order to improve health and safety conditions at the site for more than 40 years – long before it signed an agreement to house ICE detainees. In the past five years alone, there have been at least 42 suicide attempts – including one as recently as May 18, 2019.
Amid the injustices being perpetrated against our immigrant neighbors, CIDR is working to end immigration detention and advocating for community-based alternatives.
Join us Saturday, January 11, for a protest at Yuba County Jail. Info here.
